Sports for Healthy Living!


Since times immemorial we have heard and read that Sports is something everybody should take up. But frankly how many of us do play sports in our life at regular intervals? How many reasons do you have for not playing any sport? Well I have plenty. But the truth is that we are too lazy to move from our couches and beds and actually move out and play any game. The last time I played Lawn Tennis was a few days ago…. On My Phone. And trust me I still feel that my fingers look thin since then. Just Joking! But the irony is true. The fact is that all of us should definitely play some sports or pick up at least one sport which you would like to play at regular intervals. The excuses to not play one could be plenty, I do not have time, I am too old to choose one sport, I am clumsy, etc. But why not choose one day when you would definitely go and play - maybe a Sunday. Lets accept it that if we want to do something we will make time for it.

Some of the benefits of playing a sport are:-

  1. Keeps you Fit and Healthy – I know this is a bummer, because we all know about this. But its also easy to start with the well known facts. So go get fit and celebrate a healthy life by playing a sport of your choose. Sport is a great avenue for promoting a healthy lifestyle, and this feeds into a number of other areas of life. For example, those who consistently play sport are more likely to be aware of the healthy food choices they need to make in order to perform.
  2. Mood – Enhancer – Sports provides a positive emotional experience and also helps in improving certain clinical mental health disorders like substance abuse, depression,etc.
  3. Building a Healthy Heart – A regular physical activity also helps in keeping your heart healthy, lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases, improves the blood flow to your heart,etc.
  4. No Age Bar – Picking up a sport as an hobby has no age bar, instead the older you are to more fit you will feel. So stop saying that you are too old to play now. There are no rule books to hobbies.

So Do Not be Lazy. Just Play. Have Fun. Enjoy the Game. Get Fit.
