When I was in school, we would practice meditation every Monday, more like a Monday Ritual. The Nun would ask us to hear the sound of the birds chirping, the train passing by, our own breath, etc. While many of them loved it, it was more of a one hour sleeping session for me. When I grew up and started working, that’s when I realized the essence of meditating. It helped in listening and digesting to the continuous rant of my boss, clients and other people, it also helped in remaining calm on the road and avoiding a lot of incidents of road rash. That’s when I learnt how meditation helped in keeping our mind calm and functioning properly. When I would come to the gym after 12 hours at work, is the time I realized that meditation also helps in a Super Duper Charged Up Workout. Wondering how?
It helps to calm down your body. Research suggests that meditating even for 5 minutes is better than sleeping for 5 hours at a stretch. It helps you to relax your body and regain your strength to hustle at the gym.
It also helps in guiding your workout. If you meditate before your workout for 3 minutes, it helps in listening to the voice deep down which tells you what part of your body needs more attention.
No meditation is not equivalent to exercising, incase you are wondering! These two terms even though used synonymously are not the same.
Meditation also improves your concentration and to see better results at the gym, you have to concentrate to a particular body part or muscle to see the difference.
