Give your Navratri Fasting a Healthy Twist !

Are you fasting this Navratri? Are you excited about eating the Navratri Special Chips and Chaats? If your plan is to binge on oily and sugary food while you are fasting and giving your workout a miss, think again! While you can absolutely relish the chips and chaats and potatoes, you should also give a healthy twist to your diet these 9 days.

Some of the tricks of detoxing your body and giving your diet a healthy twist are:-

  1. Eat more fibrous food – While you plan on enjoying your Navratri Special Thaalis and Chips and Chaats, how about filing up your diet with more fibres like sweet potatoes, raw banana, pumpkin, etc. Fibre takes the longest the digest and hence, keeps you full and curbs your cravings.
  2. Drink Plenty of Water – Fibrous food also makes you dehydrated so make it a point to drink plenty of water. A minimum of 3litres is a must.
  3. Detox Water – These 9 days are the best time to detox your body. You can put mint leaves or prepare other detox water and keep drinking it throughout the day. This will help in detoxing your body and improving your metabolism.
  4. Make sure your food looks fancy – Most of you would agree that the food which is well presented gives us more satisfaction. So make sure you plate your meal properly before indulging. This will keep you more happy, satisfied and full.
  5. Do Not Starve – Some people do not eat at all during the day or eat really less. This forces your body to use your body fat to release energy, thereby leading to problems like bloating. Also when you finally eat at night or after a long interval your body converts all that food to fat to produce more energy thereby making you feel lethargic immediately after your meal. To avoid all this make sure you keep munching at regular intervals.
  6. Do not ditch your workout – You might not want to go all rigorous during these days, but should not give your workout a complete miss.

What are the various healthy things you do if you fast during Navratras? We would love to know your take on this.
